Obituary

Ivan Glenn Troup, 83, of Sarver, PA went home to the arms of his Savior Monday, February 5, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. Glenn was born in Mayport, PA on December 10,1940, a son of the late Arveta May (Reichard) and Norman George Troup. Glenn was a 1959 graduate of Dayton High School. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country on his tours of duty through France, Germany, Spain and England. After three years of service, Glenn came home and enrolled at Penn State University. He received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and began working as a research chemist at PPG. Ultimately, with his hard work and dedication, he advanced to a Senior Research & Development Chemist managing the Coatings & Resins / Engineering lab for PPG Industries in Springdale. During his time there, Glenn received numerous awards and patents for his research. He traveled to other cities to present and educate other teams based on research successes. Glenn was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights, PA. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #683 in Saxonburg. He was an avid hunter and fishman, and the definition of a great outdoorsman. Some of his most cherished moments in nature were often slow wanders in the woods, down hollows and along creeks, watching deer pass with a bow in his hand and no intention to shoot. He also enjoyed working with his hands whether it be wood work, home improvement or working on cars. You name it, he could fix it! He loved spending time with his family going on adventures, his carefully crafted egg hunts at Easter with his grandchildren, Sunday ice cream, chatting to catch up on day to day lives, or just having quiet visits watching his little ones play. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and their endless banter. Glenn is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 64 years, Dorcea Jean (Blose) Troup. His daughter and son in law, Christine D. and Vince Kabay, of Buffalo Twp. Six grandchildren, April & Nick Creaby, Lystina & Cody Bliss, Mariah Jones, Michael Troup, Miranda & Elliot Petruso, Miles Troup (Sarah Kutsch) and five great grandchildren, Thea Troup, Landyn Jones, Jack Ivan Creaby, River Glenn Bliss and Owen Creaby. Glenn is also survived by a sister, Alberta Polliard. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Glenn Troup, three brothers, Howard, Clarence and Wayne Troup and his sister, Alma Mogle. At the family's request there will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life service will be held on at Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights at a day and time to be determined.  A private immediate family burial will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Distant, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freeport Area Meals-On-Wheels 211 4th St. Freeport, PA 16229 or Harvest Baptist Church 224 Harvest Ln., Natrona Heights, PA 15065.
